Wildlife in their natural environments

The Wincopin Trails area is a great example of the Middle Patuxent River Valley ecosystem. Paths wind up and down steep hills. Oak, tulip poplar, sycamore, wild grape vines and ferns abound. The area is also well populated with white-tailed deer, box turtles, groundhogs, raccoons, foxes, frogs, toads, snakes, chipmunks, and squirrels. Woodpeckers, hawks, cranes, wrens and kingfishers feed and nest here.
